A satellite consortium has been established in the north of the borough to support A Level music teaching in preparation for examination in students' own schools. Face-to-face teaching takes place in twilight sessions at Ark Pioneer Academy with students attending from several surrounding schools and colleges. Lessons are currently timetabled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3.45 - 5.45pm. Additional composition workshops take place every half term holiday.
The Edexcel A Level Music qualification consists of the following three units:
- Performing: 30% coursework that is externally assessed
- Composing: 30% coursework that is externally assessed
- Appraising: 40% written exam
