Schools

The Barnet Schools Music Network brings together Music Teachers and Co-ordinators from all over Barnet to share information, news and ideas. Membership is free to anyone who has an interest in music provision in their school.

Regular bulletins

As a member of the Music Network you will be kept up to date with music opportunities in Barnet. This includes:

  • information about events and festivals run by BEAT that your school can take part in
  • signposting to relevant CPD (from BEAT and other providers)
  • news from BEAT’s extracurricular Academy provision and other opportunities you can pass on to students and families
  • ideas and resources shared by colleagues.

Music Network Meetings

You will be invited to meetings where you can network with music colleagues from across the borough.

Ready To Sing

This expanding archive of singing resources ranging from EYFS to KS3 is available for members of the Music Network to dip into.

Consultations

We can offer a one-hour meeting to discuss your music provision. Primary colleagues can also use our Self Assessment Tool to assess current provision. Extended advice and support is available via BPSI.

GCSE & A Level Support

We offer support to colleagues and to students. Coursework moderation meetings are timetabled during mock examination periods and just before final submission. Composition workshops and performance masterclasses are offered to students during half term breaks.

The Network is co-ordinated by Ros Savournin (primary) and Jayne Barnes (secondary). We work closely together to ensure that colleagues from each phase are given useful and relevant information, as well as promoting communication between primary and secondary music providers.
