BEAT provides a variety of scholarship opportunities aimed at fostering musical education and talent development in instrumental music tuition and Academy groups. These scholarships serve as a means to support and empower aspiring musicians across different age groups and skill levels, enabling them to access high-quality music education, refine their techniques, and participate in collaborative musical experiences. Whether it's individual instrumental instruction or joining one of our esteemed Academy groups, these scholarships aim to make music education more accessible and inclusive, ensuring that the joy of music-making is within reach for a diverse range of individuals.

Endangered Instrument Scheme

BEAT aims to preserve endangered musical instruments by fostering young talent. The scheme is exclusively available to beginners of the following instruments: Tuba, Euphonium, Double Bass, Viola, Bassoon, French Horn, and Oboe.

Here's how the scheme works:

  • You'll enjoy a 100% lesson fee waiver for the first two terms.
  • Afterwards, you'll continue with a 50% discount on individual 20-minute lessons throughout the three-year scholarship, valid until 31st August 2026.
  • You'll join one of our ensembles, and membership will be complimentary throughout the scholarship.
  • The instrument rental for the duration of the scholarship will also be free.

BEAT GSCE and A Level Scholarship

The BEAT GSCE and A Level Scholarship is dedicated to nurturing young musical talent.

Starting in September 2023, eligible students nominated for this scholarship will gain access to the following benefits:

  • Weekly one-on-one instrumental lessons (30 minutes for KS4, 45 minutes for KS5).
  • Regular participation in a challenging BEAT ensemble.
  • Exclusive invitations to discounted BEAT Workshops.
  • Access to a well-maintained instrument that can be taken home.

To qualify, students must:

  • Demonstrate notable musical talent on an instrument offered by BEAT.
  • Exhibit dedication, consistent practice, and enthusiasm for lessons, rehearsals, workshops, and performances.
  • Show potential for significant musical progress and overall benefit from scholarship activities.
  • Come from a financially disadvantaged family.
  • Be entering Year 10 or Year 12 in September 2023.
  • Have received a minimum of one year of instruction on their chosen or related instrument.

Applications must be submitted directly by schools to BEAT before May half term for pupils when they are in year 9 or year 11.

Scholarship enquiries for GCSE and A Level

London Music Fund

The London Music Fund, in partnership with BEAT, offer music scholarships for talented young London musicians. These scholarships, available for current year 4 or 5 students proficient in orchestral instruments, aim to remove financial barriers to their musical education.

Here's how the scheme works:

  • You'll enjoy a 100% lesson fee waiver for up to four years.
  • You'll join one of our ensembles, and membership will be complimentary throughout the scholarship.
  • The instrument rental for the duration of the scholarship will also be free.
  • You’ll receive access to workshops and a dedicated mentor.

Candidates should have at least one year of instrument instruction, including WCET.

Schools will receive the nomination forms in early Spring and are encouraged to nominate eligible students. Applications must be submitted directly by schools to BEAT.
