BEAT is delighted to have received funding from Friday Afternoons for One Voice Connects, a recently delivered choral transition project with a local cluster of primary schools and a secondary school in Barnet. The project aimed to give a high quality choral experience to children from Years 5-8, provide CPD in choral teaching, support singing across the primary-secondary transition and create a local cluster of schools to collaborate and share good practice in singing.
Each of the five schools received 3 workshops in school for participating children and staff, and a celebration event took place in March, and was a great success. Tudor, Northside, Manorside and Moss Hall Primary, and The Compton all performed their own song from the Friday Afternoons Song Bank, and sang several massed songs. The schools will also be taking part in the Barnet Schools Music Festivals in June at the ArtsDepot, where Friday Afternoons songs are being sung, amongst others.
