Edexcel Music Qualifications
The A Level Music qualification consists of the following three units:
Unit 1- Performing
You will be given lots of opportunities to perform as a soloist and/or in ensembles.
Unit 2 – Composing
Throughout the year you will develop your composition skills before creating 3 minute pieces to chosen exam briefs.
Unit 3 – Developing Musical Understanding
You will focus on an anthology of musical extracts, identifying important musical features and putting them in context.
By listening and studying scores you will identify tonal and harmonic features, and then apply this knowledge in the completion of theory exercises.
A Level Music Technology
Unit 1: Music Technology Portfolio 1 70%
Students produce an audio CD which includes the following three tasks:
- A: Sequenced Realised Performance
- B: Multi-track Recording 8–12 tracks
- C: Creative Sequenced Arrangement.
Unit 2 Listening and Analysing
You will study the development of popular music styles from 1910 through to the present day.
